Hey friend,

The other day, I saw a prominent longevity influencer promote the fact that he was finally on the perfect diet. His timing was perfect, and the meals that went into his body were perfect.

I couldn't help but think that, through my years of experience coaching people, especially with their diet, aiming for perfectionism is one of the unhealthiest behaviors on the planet. And there is plenty of evidence to back this up.

The concept of being perfect leads to rigidity. It also leads to the idea that there are either good foods or bad foods, and that you are either being good or bad depending on what you eat.

One thing I know about sustainability is that you need to incorporate your favorite foods in order for you to be in shape.

Now I know that when he posted it, he was feeling proud, but I couldn't help but think that he was trading one way of disordered eating for another.

If I could shout anything until the cows come home, it's the fact that your diet does not have to be perfect in order for you to get in shape and be at your healthiest.

And in order to find what's sustainable for you, you have to be a little bit looser when it comes to your perceptions of what food means to you.

What are your thoughts?

Here's what caught my attention this week.

Here Is Your 4 Minute Friday:

1. The Cheapest Anti-Aging Supplement No One Knows About

If you've been on the internet long enough, you will know that there are some people spending fortunes chasing exotic longevity protocols.

Researchers have actually found 2 amino acids from the bottom shelf that might be outworking most of them:

Glycine and N-acetylcysteine. Together, GlyNAC. Both over the counter, both pennies a dose.

Baylor ran a 16-week randomized, placebo-controlled trial in adults averaging 71. The GlyNAC group improved on glutathione, oxidative stress, mitochondrial function, insulin resistance, inflammation, strength, gait speed, and body fat. The placebo group improved on none of it.

Your body builds glutathione, its master antioxidant. Production falls off with age, and the bottleneck is two ingredients. Glycine runs short, and cysteine runs short. When you supply both, the factory restarts.

That said, it doesn't replace lifting, protein, and sleep. But for the person who's already doing those and who's over 40 and still seeing their inflammatory markers increase, it's worth testing for 12 weeks.

2. Eat This Food To Improve Your Brain Health

Over the past two decades, eggs have gotten an incredibly bad rap. Turns out they are one of the healthiest things you can eat, especially for your brain.

Researchers pooled 21 observational studies covering nearly 100,000 people. Eating about one egg a day was linked to a 9% lower risk of cognitive decline compared to eating none.

But the curve didn't keep climbing. It was U-shaped. The lowest risk sat right around one egg a day. Past that, the benefit flattened and then went the other way.

We're trained to treat food like a dial. More protein, more fiber, more omega-3s. Eggs are a reminder that a lot of nutrition is a range, not a direction.

Over the past few years, many people have been scared away from eating eggs, when I'm doing the opposite. I'm looking to eat more of them as I get older.

❤️ My Favourite Thing This Week

Doing my best Zoolander impression

I started moisturizing in my 30s, and I was consistent about it the way most guys are consistent about it, which is to say, barely.

Then I met my wife. She has an actual routine, with steps and order and reasons behind each one. Watching her do it every night made me realize I'd been treating my face like an afterthought while I tracked everything else about my health.

Since taking my skin health seriously, a lot of people have been asking me what I use, and I always tell them, Wild Roman.

At night, I use the bakuchiol serum first, then the grass-fed beef tallow moisturizer over top.

What sold me was how little is in them. 10 ingredients or fewer, no synthetic fragrance, and the tallow actually absorbs instead of sitting on my face like every other oil-based thing I've tried.

Ever since then, my wife and my friends have been complimenting me on my smooth skin. If you're looking to look a bit younger and improve your skin health, I highly recommend them.

You can grab it over here.

Client Of The Week - Jordan Gray, Entrepreneur

Jordan is an entrepreneur and owner of JordanGrayconsulting.com. He ended up gaining a ton of weight after his business became successful. He struggled with stress eating and just being too comfortable.

In 6 months, we dropped 54 lbs, improved his bloodwork, and doubled his energy levels.

Here's how we did it:

  • We fixed his relationship with food. Instead of stress eating, we eliminated snacking and had him take walks outside.
  • We made sure to eat at least .8 grams of protein per pound. This ensured he was keeping muscle instead of wasting it away.
  • We did 3 strength training sessions a week. He wanted more, so we upped it to 4 days a week while optimizing recovery.
  • Finally, we ensured it was simple and easy for his busy schedule and kept him accountable for the process.

I'm proud of how Jordan showed up to the coaching and his health. Now we're onto building muscle. Time to level up.

One Quote To Finish Your Week Strong

"Asking is a moment's shame. Not asking is a lifetime's shame."

Something I learned from a mentor a long time ago is that if you don't ask, the answer is always no. You will be surprised at how much you can accomplish by just asking for what you want
