Last Sunday was a slow morning with my family. There were no alarms, no rushing, and we moved at our own pace.

I did too, and I noticed something halfway through: my shoulders dropped, my breathing slowed, and my nervous system felt like it was on a different setting than the one I usually run on.

It reminded me of the true measure of wealth. Most people confuse it with how much money they have in the bank, but a greater form of wealth is time affluence.

Time affluence is the feeling of not being owned by your calendar. It is a Sunday when I do not need to be anywhere but with my family.

The older I get, the more I realize that one of the best ways to build time affluence is to build a healthy body.

When your body is healthy, you're not only adding more years but creating better days inside of them.

Here's what caught my attention this week.

1. The 30-Calorie Trick That Kills Hunger Faster Than Food

Most people think fat loss comes down to willpower, but it really comes down to hunger management.

There’s one tool in my kitchen that kills hunger faster than any food you can eat.

It's called psyllium husk, and I talked about it in this article over here.

A 2023 meta-analysis looked at psyllium taken before meals in overweight and obese adults. Participants saw an average of 2.1 kg of weight loss, a 0.8 drop in BMI, and 2.2 cm off the waist over about 4.8 months.

Why does it work? When you take in psyllium husk, it turns into a gel in your stomach. That gel takes up space, slows digestion, and triggers GLP-1 and PYY (the same satiety hormones drugs like Ozempic target).

Something I like to do is take 1-2 tablespoons in 8-12 oz of water, 20-30 minutes before my biggest meal.

This helps keep me full and prevents me from overeating.

2. Your Blood Tells You How You'll Age

Most people think aging just happens to you, but a 2021 study in Metabolite found that your metabolism has a lot more to do with it than you think.

Researchers compared the blood lipid profiles of 73 healthy people in their 20s with 77 healthy people in their 70s.

What they found was surprising: even among the healthy older group, hundreds of lipid species had shifted with age. The biggest twist was that some of the elevated lipids in the older group were actually protective, specifically the ones linked to better cardio-metabolic health.

The authors believe these lipid signatures may be part of why these people reached their 70s in good shape.

In plain English, that means people who age well are not just lucky. Their metabolism is doing protective work in the background year after year.

That is why I tell clients that metabolic health is not a vanity metric. It is the engine that decides whether you reach 70 strong or 70 broken.

❤️ My Favourite Thing This Week

I believe one of the greatest role models on the planet is people in their sixties, seventies, and eighties training in the gym to stay healthy.

It reminds me of Richard Morgan. He didn’t use a rowing treadmill until he was 73, and by 93, he was a four-time world indoor rowing champion, with the cardiovascular system of a healthy 30-year-old.

The lesson isn’t that everyone needs to win world championships in their 90s. It’s that the body responds to stimulus at any age.

We learn from Taiwanese grandmas (and many others) that the window doesn’t close when you get older. It closes when you stop.

Client Of The Week - Soren, Entrepreneur

Soren is an entrepreneur who wants to drop the belly, become a fit dad to his four children, and improve his energy levels.

In six months, he lost 54 pounds, increased his energy levels, and became such a great example to his kids that they're now joining him in his workouts.

Here's how we did it:

  • We ate a low-carb, high-protein meal plan as that worked better for his energy levels and focus.
